About Shaena:

Shaena Montanari was the 2017 AGU-sponsored AAAS Mass Media Fellow. She spent her summer as a science journalist at National Geographic. She was previously a freelance science writer and contributor at Forbes in natural history and paleontology. She recently wrapped up an international fellowship sponsored by the Royal Society at University of Edinburgh in the UK, and before that, was a Columbia Science Fellow at Columbia University, teaching first year undergraduates science topics ranging from black holes to dinosaurs. Her dissertation was on the paleoecology of dinosaurs and mammals, which lead her to field work in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert and the outback of Australia.
